Yiyang Weigu Performance (Yiyang)

In a Yiyang Weigu performance, there must be at least four or five performers, and sometimes there can be ten performers. The performers undertake roles of both actors and bandsmen, and one performer can play one role or a couple of roles. During the singing, the performers do not wear make-up, and they make no performing actions, instead, they completely represent the drama stories by aria and speaking. Music of folk madrigals or local drama is adopted. It is usually performed on wedding ceremonies or funerals, and sometimes it is temporarily performed in a fixed place on festivals.
