Makou Township
The Shipan Community of Makou Township in
Zhaotong Municipality
consists of only 10 families. The scene is really breathtaking
because the village is located on a giant slab stone with huge
mountains on its back and Jinsha River (Yangtze River) roaring
by at the foot of the precipice. The elevation drop from the
village to the River has amounted to over 2,000 meters. Moreover,
there is a huge Karst cave in Makou Township, in which tectonic
forces created brick-wall-like rock formations that are nicknamed
“the Subterranean Great Wall”. The local “bowl-shaped” brown
sugar and hot spring have also escalated the features to the place;
and it would be a great pity for one to leave Makou Township
without enjoying them.
