Xiushan Mountain Of Tonghai

Xiushan Mountain Of Tonghai

Xiushan Town of Tonghai County (Yuxi Municipality) is situated near Qilu Lake
and Xiushan Mountain. Xiushan Mountain there is known as the “Number One”
for its beauty and elegance in South Yunnan. In its heyday, Xiushan Mountain
had nearly 100 temples. Nowadays, one can still find over 20 extant architectures
built in the Ming and Qing dynasties such as Wanshou Pavilion, Puguang Temple,
Ziguang Pavilion, Qingliang Pavilion and Yongjin Temple etc.
Yongjin Temple
Located atop Xiushan Mountain, the temple was first constructed in the Song

Dynasty. It is the oldest and largest architecture in Xiushan Mountain.
There are centuries-old trees flourishing in the garden such as cypresses
planted in the Song Dynasty and firs planted in the Yuan Dynasty.

Qingliang Pavilion Architecture Complex
Constructed in the late Tang Dynasty, the complex underwent renovations in

the onwards Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties. Sights inside include Xiao Xi
Tian (Small Western Paradise) and Wu Hou Ci (Shrine for Mr. Zhu Geliang,
 181-234)
Puguang Temple
Constructed between the Tang and Song dynasties, the temple was enlarged in
the Dali Kingdom Period (938-1253) in the Song Dynasty. In the garden of
the temple, there is a pagoda named “Pangong Pagoda” made from bricks.
Beside the pagoda, one can find there is a natural sandstone whose middle
part appears to be a concavity where spring water is held and can be heard
 dripping day and night.
Doumo Candy-the most famous specialty of Tonghai
Doumo Candy is made from bean powder and maltose. As a specialty of Tonghai
County, Doumo Candy became famous in the Qing Dynasty some 200 years ago.
Tasting sweet, crispy and savory, it is honored as “superior-quality product”.
