Introduction of Hainan Baisha

Baisha lies from the middle part to west part of Hainan Island. It is located in the northwest part of the Limu Mountain mid range. It is also at the upstream of Nandu River. Around it, Qiongzhou County is in the east; Wuzhishan City is the southeast; Ledong County is the south, Changjiang County is in the west, and Danzhou City is in the north. Baisha is 63km from north to south, 68km from east to west, with an area of 2117.73 sq.km. The county has 11 ethnic groups including Li and Miao, with a population of 190,000. The climate of Baisha is warm, with long hours of sunshine and ample warmth from the sun. It is the typical climate of the tropical mountain. The county is full of water, and the main rivers are Nankai River, Shilu River and Zhubi River. The county is in Yacha Town. Baisha County is 61km away from west highway, about 2-3 hours away from Haikou and Sanya by car. There are roads connecting Wuzhi Mountain, Qiongzhong and Ledong in the middle part of the county. The part of Haiyu West Highway that passes through Baisha belongs to the national highway, connecting Baisha with Danzhou and Changjiang. West Highway, Yuehai Railway both pass through the west part of Baisha.

Destination Climate: Baisha has mild climate, long sunshine and sufficient heat, featuring tropical mountainous climate. Rainfall mainly concentrates from May to October, accounting for 85% of the yearly rainfall.

Destination Notes: Baisha teems with green tea, of which the property is cold. It can help produce saliva and slake thirst, refresh the mind, increase the discharge of urine, sober people up, reduce smoking, clearing heat, improve people’s immunity and eliminate the radiation, etc.
Drinking tea during hunger is forbidden. People with gastric ulcer, anemia, neurasthenia and women during menstrual, pregnant or feeding period had better not drink tea.

Shipping: Yacha Town, Yacha Harbor to Danzhou Nanfeng.

Road: Baisha County is 61km away from west highway, about 2-3 hours away from Haikou and Sanya by car. There are roads connecting Wuzhi Mountain, Qiongzhong and Ledong in the middle part of the county. There are buses from the bus station everyday to and from Haikou, Danzhou, Wuzhi Mountain, Dongfang, Qiongzhong and other places.

Special Transportation: There are three-wheel cars in the county, fare starting from RMB2.

 

Travel Tips

Season Features: Baisha’s climate is warm, with long hours of sunshine and ample warmth from the sun. It is the typical climate of the tropical mountain. The rain mostly falls between May and October, and about 85% of the rain in a year falls in this period.

Travel Taboo: It’s forbidden to knock the rice bowl with chopstick and whistle when having meal. Because it’s regarded that it will draw on hungry ghost when knocking the rice bowl and drive off the rice fetch when whistling, which are not auspicious. When having meal at home, people should not wear grass hat or devour the food, which is regarded to affect the production and harvest of next year. The guest should not turn the upside of the rice bowl down on the desk, because the upside-down bowl is like a tomb, which is not auspicious. After having the meal, the guest should not put the crossing chopsticks on the rice bowl, which is a behavior showing the guest is not satisfied with the host.
