Hakka’s Custom (Zhuzhou)
DATE:09-06-2011
Hakka dialect in Yanling area has been blended with the
local dialects for hundreds of years, so its vocabulary and syntax have
been nearly the same with the local dialects, but its phonetic system
still maintains its independent system. During the process of “doing in
Rome as Rome does” for survival and existence, the Yanling Hakka people
adapted themselves to local customs in some aspects, but they still
remain some of their own customs. For example, women do not bind feet,
they pay attention to education, they defy brute force, and they are
affectionate and revere forefathers.
