Anren Ganfenshe Festival - Shennong Cultural Festival (Chenzhou)

Anren Ganfenshe (Shennong Cultural Festival) firstly appeared in the Song Dynasty in commemoration of the Yan Emperor (Shennong). And since then it was handed down generation by generation. It is the only one folk-custom festival in China. Every year, around the spring equinox of lunar calendar, people from far and near get together in the Anren County to offer sacrifice to the Yan Emperor and take part in deals of, Chinese medicinal herbs, seed grains, farm tools, subsidiary agricultural products, bamboo and wood wares. During the period of this festival, nearly one thousand kinds of Chinese medicinal herbs of hundreds of families from all parts of China and even from Southeast Asia are exhibited in the herbs market.
