Ancient Tea Route Scenic Zone
Ancient Tea Route Scenic Zone, located in Gaocheng Village, Jiangnan Town, Anhua County, Yiyang City, Hunan Province, is 120 km away from Yiyang urban area. It is well-known in the world for the original source of Meishan Mountain culture, the last Horse Caravan, and the most complete Ancient Tea Route Remains & Historical Culture. The original sights of mountain inhabitants & canyon are reserved here, far away from bustling crowd with beauty and uniqueness. It is therefore named as "Mountain Town, Tea Route Remains". Anhua Horse Caravan, resided nearly 1,000 years ago, was the main transportation way. Gaocheng Horse Caravan came into existence in the 19th century thanks to the prosperity of Anhua Qianliang Tea (Anhua Black Tea of Qing Dynasty - Qianliang Tea has ever been distributed and sold in many provinces such as Sinkiang, Gansu, Shanxi, Qinghai, Inner Mongolia, Shaanxi, etc. and even in countries & regions in Central Asia, etc.). Horses were the main transportation tool for Gaocheng villagers to deliver living materials and communicate with other villages in last century. Gaocheng Horse Caravan was established with more than 200 horses, including Gaocheng village's more than 100 horses and other horses from nearby villages of Fangxi and Anxi. During the busy season of delivering living materials, the Horse Caravan would move out with all horses stretching for several kilometers, displaying an impressive grand sight. Gaocheng Horse Caravan contrasts finely with the uniform wood houses built nearby the hills & waters, which is accompanied by the profound Meishan Mountain cultural deposits. They together make Gaocheng village an unknown scenic spot hidden in the innermost place.
