Shaoyang

Shaoyang, a large green stretch of land in the western part of Hunan Province, boasts of a vast area of grassland in the Nanshan Scenic Zone in Chengbu County, the luxuriant trees in the Yunshan National Forest Park, crimson rock formations on Langshan Mountain, rare animals and plants at Huangsangping in Suining, communities of Yao ethnic group and hot springs in the Longhui Huayao Scenic Zone. All of these add charm and glamour to Shaoyang City, which is full of vital forces and life.
The World Heritage —— Langshan Mountain Scenic Zone
Located in Xinning County, this scenic zone has a large area covered with rock formations called “Crimson Glow”, a rare topographic feature in the world. Huge rocks of dark red color of grotesque shapes present a marvelous sight. The mountain slopes are covered with bamboo groves, in which birds are singing and chirping. The scenic zone is divided into five parts: the Purple Glow Land, Fuyi River, Camel Peak, Ox Nose Castle and Octagonal Castle. At the 34th session of the World Heritage Committee, China Danxia, comprising Mountain Langshan (Hunan Province), Mountain Danxiashan (Guangdong Province), Taining (Fujian Province), Chishui (Guizhou Province), Mountain Longhushan (Jiangxi Province) and Mountain Jianglangshan (Zhejiang Province), is included into the World Heritage List, becoming the 8th world natural heritage of China.
Nanshan Scenic Zone
The scenic zone in the southern part of Chengbu County occupies an area of 152 square kilometers. The immense mountain slope is covered with grass, hence the name “Hulunbuir Grassland in South China”. So far more than 50 tourist attractions in Nanshan Mountain have been open to tourists. This scenic zone is a natural pasture, a sanatorium and a summer resort.
