Introduction of Hainan Baoting

Baoting Li and Miao Autonomous County is in the middle of south Hainan, only 76km to Sanya. The county covers an area of 1160.6 sq.km. It is one of the very few autonomous counties to win National laurels such as “National Clean County”, “National Garden County”, “National Cultural County”, and “National Traditional Art County”. Baoting is the area where Li and Miao ethnic groups live, and the population of these two groups accounts for 60% of population of the whole county. You can feel the traditional culture in the air. Its “Making Fire by Rubbing the Stick”, “Brocade of Li Ethnic Group”, “Quilt made from Tree bark”and “Traditional Bamboo Musical Instruments” have been put on the List of National Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection. It has the most protected cultural heritages among all cities and areas in Hainan. Baoting has a warm climate with an annual average temperature of 23 degrees Celsius. The forest coverage is 81.5%. The most intact rain forest can be found here. Hot springs, rock caves, traditional culture are also very good choices for tourism. Baoting’s development of tourism resources emphasizes on rain forest, hot springs, rock caves, Eco trips, traditional culture, and rural sceneries, which are different from Sanya’s sun, beach and sea.

Road: It’s about 245 km to south passenger station of Haikou to Baoting station, taking 3.2 hours by drive. There is Hainan fast bus running to Baoting from 8:00 am to 18:00 pm.
It’s about 78 km from Sanya bus terminal to Baoting, taking 1 hour by drive. There is Hainan fast bus running to Baoting from 7:00 am to 18:30 pm.

Season Features: It’s like spring all through the year in Baoting. September to April of the next year is the best time for travel. The local fruit rambutan matures between June and August.

Travel Taboo: Baoting is the area where Li and Miao ethnic groups live in. You can feel the traditional culture everywhere. There are no specific taboos.
