Huishou Dance - Hand Waving Dance (Zhangjiajie)
DATE:08-06-2011
Huishou Dance, as a traditional large-scale dance loved by the Tujia
people, is divided into two kinds: Dabaishou (large-scale hand waving
dance) and Xiaobaishou (small-scale hand waving dance), both of which
have strong colors of sacrifice offering. From the third to the seventh
day of the first month of each lunar year, it is held in Baishou Tang
(Hands-waving Hall) or Wangjiaci (Wangjia Ancestral Hall). Firstly
Tulaosi holds up a broom to sing Saoxie songs (exorcism songs), and then
he waves hands and the team come to the performing ground holding large
dragon and phoenix flags, blowing horns, trumpets and So-na, squibbing
Three-Eye firecrackers and firecrackers. And then they dance gracefully
with a hilarious atmosphere.
