Chenzhou

Chenzhou

At the southeastern end of Hunan Province, Chenzhou is famous for its beautiful, precipitous, unique, exquisite and secluded landscapes composed of mountains, lakes, caves, springs and rocks. Chenzhou is a newly developed tourism city characterized by hunting, drifting, aquatic amusement, recuperation, sports and sightseeing.
Suxian Mountain Scenic Zone
On the northeastern corner of Chenzhou City, this scenic zone is 1.5 km from the city proper, and enjoys a reputation of “18th fortune land on earth”. The main tourist attractions in the scenic zone include the Suxian Taoist Temple, White Deer Cave and Three-perfection Tablet. Zhang Xueliang (1901-2001), a famous patriotic general, was once taken in custody here. The portrait of Zhang Xueliang and his poems can be found in one of the wing rooms.
Dongjiang Lake
Located in Zixing City, Dongjiang Lake is a man-made lake dug when the Dongjiang Hydropower Station was built. The tourist attractions in the scenic zone include the Dongjiang Dam and Hougu Mountain Waterfall, in addition to some recreational projects on water, such as drifting on the Dongjiang River, known as No.1 eco-tour drifting in China, parachute jump, on-water plane and on-water motorcycle.
Wanhuayan Scenic Zone
It is a large underground karst cave, 17 km southwest of the city proper of Chenzhou.  An American inspection team once spoken highly of it: “It can rival with the most magnificent karst cave in the world.” The rocks in the cave are of various shapes and postures that none resembles another, of which the crystal cone rock under water is a national treasure and the stalagmites and stone eggs are rare in the world.
Mangshan Mountain National Forest Park
In Yizhang County of Chenzhou, the Mangshan Mountain National Forest Park has the best-preserved and the most representative sub-tropical secondary primeval forest and evergreen broad-leaf forest in the world. It grows more than 1,700 species of plants and raises 300 varieties of animals, of which, the yellow- breast pheasant, sika deer, golden cat and python are first-class animals under state protection.
