Situated at the central area, south of the
Yellow River, Luohe city has an area of 2617 square kilometers and a
population of 2.52 millions. It is famous for its food production, the
national garden city and the inland special zone in Henan Province.
Luohe is rich in tourism resources. As early as more than 8,000 years
ago, our ancestors on this land created the magnificent civilization. At
the Jia lake Ruins of Wuyang County, numerous cultural relics were
excavated, such as animal bones and tortoise shells with symbols---the
primitive Chinese characters and seven-sound bone flute which was made
of bird bone 8,000 years ago. The bone flute is the earliest discovery
of music instrument in the world. The symbol on animal bones and
tortoise shells excavated here is 4,000 years earlier than that
discovered at Anyang Yin Ruins, and more than 1,000 years earlier than
the hieroglyph of Egypt. The industrious Luohe people have left many
beautiful legends and places of interest on this land. For example, in
Spring and Autumn Period, Qihuangong---the king of Qi state, made
treaties of alliance with feudal lords of the eight states to attack Chu
in 656 BC. This was the first alliance among states in war in history.
In the Eastern Han Dynasty, Xu Shen, a great talent, spent 22 years
compiling the first Chinese dictionary, Lexicology and Etymology (Shuo
Wen Jie Zi ) in China. It is an accomplishment of characters, sound, and
exegesis of ancient texts, and the bridge to study the characters
before the Qin Dynasty. Yue Fei, a famous general in the Southern Song
Dynasty, defeated Jin army on this land. Yang Zaixing, another well
known anti-Jin general, defeated the numerically superior enemy and
finally his horse fell down a pit and he lost his life near Louhe.
Later, a mausoleum was built in memory of the great general.
Luohe today is not only a modern garden city, but also a green city in
Central China, with the forest coverage up to 44.5%. The streets are
lined with green trees and fresh flowers. The natural outdoor bathing
place at Shahe River and Binhe Garden are great resorts for tourists.
The tourism industry in Luohe has been developing fast with the further
maturity of traditional travel in Nanjiecun village, the industrial
travel in Shuanghui Group and the Aodeli Group, the agricultural travel
in Longyun Group and Beixu Group, festival travel based on Central
China’ food festivals and the travel to the Shahe River, Lihe River, the
Kaiyuan Forest Park, etc.
Luohe is a tourism city combining the old tradition with modern style. Guests from home and abroad are warmly welcome to Luohe.
