Lincang, a natural “museum of tea history”

Lincang, a natural “museum of tea history”

Lincang, bordering Myanmar in the southwest of Yunnan Province, is for long deemed
as the hometown of Yunnan black tea and a big Pu'er-tea producer. Its name is derived
from the Lancang River (known as the Mekong River when running out of China) flowing
beside it.
(An ancient tea tree dubbed “King Tea Tree” in Fengqing County)
Lincang is called home by 26 nationalities such as the Wa, Bulang, Deang and
Dai etc, and is particular famed as the cradle of the Wa ethnic culture.
Lincang is a world of tea ranging from Yunnan black tea, Pu'er tea to green tea.
Tea industry here is quite famous because it has the largest plantation, the
biggest output, the highest quality, and yet the most profound cultural
 background.
Many forests are full of tea trees
Ancient tea bushes have been found scattering in many places; among the
800,000 acres of ancient tea bushes, there are 110,000 acres of tea plants
that are at least 100 years old. The oldest and thickest cultivated tea tree
(3,200 years old) in the world can be witnessed in the county of Fengqing.
