Lanmen Wine - a custom for local people to welcome distinguished guests (Xiangxi)

Lanmen wine is an old tradition of Miao mountain villages, and is especially popular and distinctive in Bagu Miao Village. Miao friends and relatives will pay a visit to present a gift on a happy occasion. The hospitable host, general relatives and friends always want to liven up the happy event and at the same time to take advantage of this opportunity to show their wealth and popularity. The host will prepare corn wine in advance. On the happy day, the host will invite the respected senior people and singers in the village to his house. He will set a big square table in front of the door, and put bowls of fresh wine on the table. When guests come, the senior one who waits at the door will sing a greeting song, then, the elderly person who is the oldest and the most esteemed in the guests sing a song to express thankfulness.
