Situated in the Shijing Township at the north of the Xin’an County, the Jingzi Mountain is famous for its Daoism culture. 829 meters above the sea level, the mountain extends from the west to the east along the Yellow River with branches stretching and steep peaks.

As recorded, it was the Emperor Huangdi (the Yellow Emperor) who first offered sacrifice to God here. Later Emperor Qinshihuang (First Emperor of the Qin Dyansty) and Hanwudi of the Han Dyansty visited here successively. The Yuhuang Pavilion on the top of the mountain is a grand establishment in shape of an octagon. In the Tongxian Taoist Temple (also called “the Jingzishan Temple” by local people) situated on the south side of the mountain, a large scale temple fair is held on each March 3rd of the lunar calendar, attracting 40-50 thousand local people, quite influential among several counties and cities nearby. On sunny days, visitors can enjoy coiling mist around the Mountain, one of the 8 sights of Xin'an County, as light white mist rises among the mountains, coiling around the mountainside gently like silk ribbon. A wild peony garden of 3 kilometers long and dozens of meters wide lies at the foot of the cliff of the main peak. As the season comes, blooming flowers present a fragrant world of wonderful colors to visitors which can last for over one month. For its wide coverage of vegetation, steep cliffs and the large quantity of historical spots, the Jingzi Mountain has become one of the visitors’ favorites on the tour route along the Yellow River since the project of Xiaolangdi Reservoir was completed.
