Cliff Inscriptions On Shoushi Mt

Cliff Inscriptions On Shoushi Mt

These inscriptions on Shoushi Mt, Yiliang (彝良) County, are 17 km from the local council of Long'an Township. They have been listed as key historical and cultural relics of Zhaotong Municipality in Northeast Yunnan.
During 1901-1905, the local Yi ethnic chieftain Lu Shengtian and his friends exchanged a dozen poems and calligraphic works on Shoushi Mt which then were inscribed on the cliffs.
In simple, unsophisticated and yet legible writings, these inscriptions exhibit high artistic value and give clues to the fact that the Yi ethnic group in the old times had conducted profound studies into the Han Chinese culture, and that upper class of the Yi society in the backwaters of China had taken to communications with the outside world.
