Yuxian Lake Scenic Area

Yuxian Lake is situated in Yanshan County of Wenshan Prefecture. Being 1,500 meters above the sea level, Yuxian Lake is 2.7 km long and 2.25 km wide, covering 2.27 square kilometers. The average depth of the lake is 7 meters; and the deepest place is 14 meters. Particularly, there are three isles in the middle of the lake.
Yuxian Lake scenic area integrates seductive natural landscapes and exotic ethnic cultures. The lake appears attractive with green water and flourishingly green isles; its lakeshore is meandering but pleasant to one's eyes. Around the lake, there are three ethnic villages of the Yi, Zhuang and Miao minorities. When it is time for "Flower Festival" (Huashan Festival of Miao), "March Festival" (Zhuang) or "Torch Festival" (Yi), the villagers will get attired to sing and dance, giving full expression to their ethnic culture. When visiting Yuxian Lake scenic area, one may feel it a pity not to try the local delicacies such as "chicken simmered with pseudo-ginseng" and "colored rice" etc.
