The Jade Water Village

The Jade Water Village

The Jade Water Village (Yu Shui Zhai) is a state 4A-level scenic spot at the
foot of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain or 14 km from Lijiang Old Town. Concentrated
on the Naxi Ethnic Culture and integrated with the nature, the Village appears to
be the holy land of Dongba Religion in Central Lijiang. It has preserved the
primitive and simple ethnic features of the Naxi Minority and contrasts finely
with the natural landscapes around, embodying the traditional concept of the
Naxi Minority-“Man and Nature live in harmony”.
The Jade Water Village has been serving as the inheriting centre for Dongba
Culture and the folk music called “Bai Sha Xi Yue” which is a grand music
played during funeral and sacrificial ceremonies by the Naxi ethnic members.
Other sights include ethnic customs, salmon raising, Dongba religious frescos,
"Bai Sha Xi Yue” Music show, lifestyle display of the Naxi Minority and so on.
