Wenshan, Producer Of Pseudo-ginseng
Wenshan
Zhuang and Miao Autonomous Prefecture is the gateway of Southeast
Yunnan and borders with Vietnam. It abounds with pseudo-ginseng, which is stated
as “more valuable than gold” in the book An Outline of Herb Medicine (Ben Cao Gang Mu)
by Dr. Li Shizhen (1518-1593) who was a reputed herbalist in the Ming Dynasty
(1368-1644). Wenshan is thus dubbed as the hometown of pseudo ginseng.
