Yuan Jiagu (1872-1937)
With the alias Shuwu and the styled name" Ping Shan Ju Shi" (Lay Buddhist
in Ping Shan), He was born in Shiping County. He was the Number one scholar
in the imperial examination in 1903 in economics, and was the first and the
only one in Yunnan history who had ever won such an honor.

The Former Residence of Mr. Yuan Jiagu is
situated on Nanzheng Street of
Shiping county seat. Covering nearly 700 square meters, the site is a
residential compound comprising the typical wooden construction of the
Qing Dynasty style. It functions as a window to showcase the history
and culture of Shiping County which is depicted as "Zhong Ling Yu Xiu"
(noted for beautiful sceneries and talented people).
