Huanggui glutinous rice wine

Huanggui glutinous rice wine

Huanggui glutinous rice wine is one of the famous drinks in Xi'an. Since sweet-scented osmanthus is added to the wine when it is made, it is called “Huanggui rice wine”, which means “wine with osmanthus”. It was once called “jade pulp” because it is white in color and thick as soybean milk. Huanggui rice wine is thick, aromatic and delicious. It is boasts a long history. It is said to be the favorite of Lady Yang. Du Fu, a famous Tang Dynasty poet, once described Li Bai's craziness for the wine as “Li Bai can compose dozens of poems after he drinks wine. He often sleeps in the inns at the market in Chang'an.” Research has proven that the wine mentioned in the poem is also rice wine.
