Xilin Gol League

Xilin Gol (Mongolian:, Sili-yin ɣoul ayimaɣ, Chinese: 锡林郭勒盟) is one of 12 prefecture level divisions of Inner Mongolia. The capital is Xilinhot, the area is 202,580 km². The league's economy is based on mining and agriculture. Xilin Gol borders Mongolia to the north, Chifeng, Tongliao and Hinggan League to the east, Ulanqab to the west and Hebei's Chengde and Zhangjiakou cities to the south.

It’s the nearest national minority region to Beijing. There are 24 races such as Mongolia, the Hans, Hui , Elunchun...etc, total population 920,000, among them, Mongolia occupies 29.6%. Erlianhot and Zhuengadabuqi are two route on land seaports, among them Erlianhot plans single row ground class City for the autonomous region, belongs to approval in State Department of follow the side open city, it is an important and big bridge to connect with Mongolia country, Russia, Central Asia and Eastern Europe.

Geography

Food

The food mainly has 3 kinds, namely carnivorous, the milk eat, food. Generally in the morning and at noon, drink milk tea, milk food, carnivorous, fry rice. In the evening, eat hand to pick meat, noodles, dumpling etc. The milk food contain butter, white oil, skin formed on boiled milk, milk bean curd, sour cream cheese etc. Among them, the butter, white oil, skin formed on boiled milk is the good product in the milk food. The flavor is purely fragrant and the nourishment is abundant.

Dress and Personal adornment

The jewelry, gown, belt, boot is the main part of Mongolia dress. Jewelry is Mongolia women's used for a head adornment when they call on relatives in person or on holidays and New Year, The jewelry is made into agate, pearl, precious stone, gold and silver...etc. Mongolia gown is the clothes which herdsman like to wear best. The gown is roomy, the long sleeve and high neck, the button is in the right side, the dress side embellished with the beautiful lace. The gown’s color is various with each individual. The belt is used to tie the waist when you wear a Mngolia gown. It is silk or satin. There are 2 kinds boot which herdsman to wear, the one is called Mongolia boots , the head point of boots are turning up waist of boots have pattern, they wear the boots all the year. Another one called riding boots, circle head and long waist, burly and durable.

Living

Long-term nomad life on the history, the Mongolia herdsman choose the most suitable and proper residence –the yurt. The yurt size is different, inside of the yurt, it’s spacious and comfortable, easy to move, it is fit for rotation grazing and walking field living. With settle down and life level improve, the yurt has already withdrawn from a main position, herdsman have already lived in a house that build with brick and wood.

Transportation

Herdsman usually ride a horse to pasture and walks. Carrying goods, they often use horse or camel to carry. When there are lots of goods, use Lele Che to pull, now, they carries the goods with various automobile.

Etiquette and custom

Mongolia is friendly. In spite of know or not, they always give the great kindness serves. The generous host always put milk tea, butter, cream cheese, fry rice and hand to pick meat, milk wine...etc in front of the guests, invite guests enjoy themselves. There are also some taboos in the custom. If the vehicle enters into living place, must go slowly, put the horsewhip outside of the door before enter into the yurt, entering the yurt, cross legs to sit on the right side.

Tourist Resources

Xiling Gol is a Mongolian term, meaning “river on hilly land”. Xilin Gol is well-known for its long history and its historical relics, among which, the Ruins of Shangdu of the Yuan Dynasty and the Huizong Temple have been confirmed as national important historical relics under state protection. Xilin Gol is world-renowned for its beautiful grasslands, such as the attractive Ujimqin pastureland, the flowery Huitengxil grassland and the silver-ribbon-like meandering Xilin River. Xilin Gol is uniquely famous for its ethnic customs, especially for Mongolian wrestling, Mongolian tunics and ornaments, and Changdiao, a protracted major tune singing popular among ethnic Mongolians in the grassland. Erenhot, a city in the league, is an important landway connecting Mongolia, Russia, central Asia and East Europe as well as a major passage way for cross-border tours between China and Mongolia. Xilinhot, the seat of the league, was honored with the title “China’s Excellent Tourism City” in 2000.
