The general situation of Shizuishan



  Shizuishan City, named for its mouth-like projecting mountain stones on the two sides of the Yellow River, is located in the northern part of the region. Abutting the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, to the east of Yellow River and by the western flank of Helan Mountain, this newly emergent industrial city is the hub of communications connecting Northwest and North China. It comprises of Dawukou District, Shizuishan District, Pingluo County, Huinong County, and Taole County. Covering an area of 4,454 square km, it is the second largest city in Ningxia, with a population of 680,000.

  Shuizuishan abounds in mineral resources, especially such non-metallic resources as coal, silica and clay. Tourism in Shizuishan City has caught many people’s eyes. The attractive Sand Lake is ranked as a 5A state level scenic spot, combining both the beauty of the southern aquatic scenery with the grandeur of the north. The stone carving of Helan Mountain and the site of the remains of the ancient Great Wall are of high art and archaeological value. And the forest park and Sanhu Aquatic Park under construction have begun to take shape as unique scenic spots.






   The city enjoys great convenience in transportation and telecommunications. It is 100 km to Yinchuan Airport, and people in Shizuishan City can get there in an hour by car. Mobile phones bring people there closer to the rest of the world.
