Shui Dong Gou

　　Shui Dong Gou is one of the sites in the Old Stone Age which was first explored in China. In 1923, the French palaeontologists Derijin,and Sang Zhihua found the prehistoric site of ancient culture remains here. After having been excavated a large number of stone implements and zoolite, Shui Dong Gou became the site of ancient mankind culture remains in the Old Stone Age which our country explored in the earlist time. It was announced for "Key Cultural Relic Unit under State Protection "by the State Council in 1988, and praised as " prehistoric and archaeological origin of China", and " historic witness of Chinese-western cultural exchanges ".In the site,the Great Wall , Red Mountain Fort , and the Hiding Soldier Cave are the only three-dimensional military defence system which were kept most intact in ancient China.It was on the second place in the list of "50 places in China that worth visiting most" in April 2006. At the same time Shui Dong Gou is classified as one of the great historical relics in the country’s Eleventh Five-year protection project. Among the 100 sites in the whole country, Shui Dong Gou is the only one in Ningxia.



　　The unique refined red ground form, with its superb craftsmanship, creates the Devil City, the Whirlwind Cave ,the Lying Camel Mountain, the Skyscraping Precipice , the Broken Cloud Valley, the Strange Willow Ditch ,and other surprising views which amount to more than 20.The prehistoric site ,the ancient fort of frontier fortress ,the beacon of the Great Wall, Hiding Soldier Cave recorded the activity of mankind in the past 30,000 years.Placing oneself in the site, one will have the feeling of crashing into the time tunnel , cruising in the river betweeen the time immemorial and the modernization.Then one can see the endlessness of life, the mystery of nature, the greatness of mankind and the accumulation of history.
