Shapotou

　　Shapotou Tourist Area is located in southeast edge of the Tenggeli Desert, 16 kilometers west to Zhongwei City, in which the desert, Yellow River, high mountains and oasis merge into an integral and peculiar scene. With unique natural landscape and abundant anthropological spectacle, it is praised as the monopolistic tourist resources in the worldwide.
Shapotou Tourist Area is the first state 5A scenic spot and national nature reserve，and is the right place of the Shapo singing bell, one of the three singing sands in China. Due to its achievement of　sand control , Shapotou won the title as "global top 500 in environmental protection " awarded by UN in 1994.　It is listed as "Top 50 Destinations Must-see inChina for Foreigners" . Here's the largest natural field of sliding sands of China ---" the Shapo singing bell" , No.1 Tram Rail over Yellow River with the total length of 820 meters; the cultural representative of the Yellow River---an old waterwheel; the first railway crossing the desert,in the world---Baolan Railway; the oldest means of transportation on the Yellow River---Sheepskin raft. You can ride the camel roaming Tenggeli Desert, take the Landrover surfing in sand sea, enjoying the view of solitary mist in desert, the wonder of long river and setting sun.


 There is a Peninsula of" U " shape at south bank of the Yellow River in Shapotou, with three sides circled by sand, and another against mountain. It has superior terrain, peculiar view, simple folkways and abundant resources.Visitors can participate in some extreme Sports such as the training expanding activity in open air, bungee jumping, rocket people, etc.. You can enjoy the shower of the mother river in bathing place of Binhe. The Great Wall and pottery kiln in Qin Dynasty left sites here.
