Du Jiang met with Irish Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport

On April 25, CNTA Vice Chairman Du Jiang met with Leo Varadkar, Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport of Ireland, both of whom were in Sanya, Hainan Province to attend the 2014 World Travel & Tourism Conference.

Du Jiang appreciated the Irish government’s efforts to attract more Chinese tourists and facilitate their travel to Ireland. He said China has made great achievements in tourism since the country began to reform and open up to the outside world more than 30 years ago. The Chinese side is willing to closely cooperate with other countries to let them share the growing Chinese tourism market, he added. He suggested that Ireland strengthen tourism promotion in China, simplify visa procedures, carefully study the consumption characteristics of Chinese tourists and provide them with better services. He also would like to see more tourists come to China from European countries including Ireland so as to expand the scale of two-way visits.

Varadkar said that, considering China an important tourism market, the Irish side will intensify its promotion efforts in this emerging market, further simplify visa procedures, launch direct flights and introduce more tourism products that suit the needs of Chinese tourists.
