Rice Dumpling Snatch Festival

      The Rice Dumpling Snatch is the most exciting festival for the Mulan ethnic minority. Three groups of three people are organized and compete to snatch triangular rice dumplings out of a jar using long chopsticks. The three people can only touch the ground on three feet creating an hilarious scene of hopping hand in hand and foot by foot in order to keep balance. If they lose their balance, the snatched rice dumpling may drop to the ground. The group who collects the most rice dumplings wins. Triangular rice dumplings are a kind of lunch meal and are used as offerings during the festival. They believe that the team who snatches the most rice dumplings recieves the most blessings.
