Xingyun Lake
Xingyun Lake was once called “Xing Sea”
and “Lishui” in the
Tang Dynasty (618-907). It is two kilometers northeast from the
county seat of Jiangchuan, and exhibits an elevation of 1,722 meters.
It is about 10.5 kilometers long from south to north with the widest
area being 5.8 kilometers from east to west and the narrowest area
being only 2.3 kilometers. The total area of Xingyun Lake is 35
square kilometers and the circumference is 37 kilometers. As a
freshwater lake, it is known as “natural fish farm” with about
20 fish species including “big-headed fish”, crucian carp and
chubs etc. In May 1988, Xingyun Lake and Fuxian Lake were listed
as places of interest of provincial level.
