The Mansion Of Menglian Pacification Commissioner
Mansion of Menglian Pacification
Commissioner is also known
as Mansion of Menglian Chieftain (Menglian is a county of Pu’er
Municipality). First built in 1406, the mansion used to be the
office of the Chieftain Dao. During the five centuries from
the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) to the Republic of China (1912-1949),
28 hereditary chieftains handled political affairs here. This
mansion is the only ancient architecture combining Dai and Chinese
Han styles in Yunnan Province, covering an area of 12,000 square
meters. It’s also one of the eighteen well-preserved ethnic
chieftain mansions in the remote frontiers of Yunnan, thus is
of high values of either art or history research.
