According to the initial survey, the
Reddish Sandstone Landform of
Liming Township has reached 250 square kilometers in the Three Parallel
Rivers Zone, accounting for 50% of the total territory of Li’ming.
At present, the local villagers there have named over 40 natural
sceneries of the reddish sandstone landforms. Some popular names are:
One Thousand Tortoises Mountain (Qian Gui Shan), General Pillar
(Jiang Jun Zhu), Buddha Precipice, Sky-Scraping Ridge (Mo Tian Ling),
Hump Mountain (Tuo Feng Shan), Lovers Pillar (Qing Ren ZHu) and
“Seven People” Stone (Qi Ren Shi) etc. After carrying out an
on-the-spot survey for the distribution of sandstone landforms all
over China, experts have agreed that the reddish sandstone area of
Li’ming ranks first in China as far as its altitude, height difference,
brilliant colors and splendor are concerned.
