Haba Snow Mt., A Paradise For Adventurers

Haba Snow Mt., A Paradise For Adventurers

"Haba” means golden flower in the Naxi ethnic language. Haba Snow
Mountain, namely Golden Flower Snow Mountain, is located in the southeast
of Shangri-la County, or 120 kilometers away from Jiantang Old Town of
Shangri-la. As a provincial-level nature reserve with an area of 220
square kilometers, it is astonishing for its natural scenes distributing
vertically in the forest. It is also another living paradise for all
kinds of rare and precious fauna and flora species such as macaque,
leopard, snub-nosed monkey, musk deer, wild donkey, Chinese Caterpillar
fungus (Chong Cao), Saussurea (snow lotus), fritillary, Panax
(pseudo-ginseng), and orchids etc. Its highest peak (5,396 meters above
the sea level), perennially capped with snow, is surrounded by another
four lower ones. Moraine lakes scatter on its northern slopes, 3,500 meters
above the sea level, among which Heihai Lake (Black Lake), Yuanhai Lake
(Round Lake), Huanghai Lake (Yellow Lake) and Shuanghai Lake (Couple Lake)
 are all captivating.
