The Former Site Of Zhaxi Meeting Of The Red Army
The site is located at Zhaxi Town of
Weixin County, Zhaotong Municipality. In 1935, the Central Red Army
entered Zhaxi where it held the Enlarged Meeting of the Central Military
Committee. The meeting paved the way for the later crossing over Jinsha
River (the Gold Sand River, or the Yangtze River) and the successful
fulfillment of the strategic goal of the Long March northwards to fight
against the Japanese invaders.
In the Former Site, the residence,
meeting rooms and utensils of the leaders of CPC Central Committee have
been well preserved. So far, Zhaxi Meeting Former Site has been listed
as a protected historical and cultural site by the provincial government
of Yunnan.
