Nujiang, The Oriental Great Canyon

Nujiang, The Oriental Great Canyon

Being the longitudinal valley in the south-stretching part of
Hengduan Ranges of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, Nujiang Lisu Autonomous
Prefecture is adjacent to Myanmar in the west, Tibet in the north
and Diqing, Lijiang, Dali and Baoshan in the southeast. The boundary
line is as long as 449.67 kilometers.
Nujiang is a place of mountains and rivers. Dulong River, Nujiang River
and Lancang River (Mekong River) run on parallel from west to east.
Dandanglika Mountain, Gaoligong Mountain, Biluo Mountain and Yunling
Mountain Ranges go from north to south, giving birth to three valleys,
deep, long and mysterious thus dubbed as “Nujiang Great Canyon” or
“the Oriental Great Canyon”.
