Nagu Ancient Town

Nagu Ancient Town

Constructed over 2,000 years ago, Nagu Town had become the
first post on the “10 thousand-li transportation to the national
capital” thanks to the prosperity of Huize which enjoys the fame
of “Copper Capital” in the Han Dynasty, as well as the place
where rich merchants, governmental and military officials,
miners, craftsmen, scholars and theatrical artists etc gathered.
Those people had constructed large numbers of guilds, inns,
wine houses, theaters, temples and churches. The “ancient road
for copper transportation” carved on cliffs of the south Jinsha
River bank had left behind rows of stone holes that were vestiges
of hardships of the copper transporters; the long history had turned
into the splendid humanistic scenes of Nagu. Presently, Nagu has
preserved 21 ancient architectures, 10 steles and related relics, etc.
