Cuan Baozi Stele
Also known as the “Minor Cuan Stele” and
erected in the East Jin Period (317-420), Cuan Baozi Stele is presently
preserved in the Stele Pavilion of the First High School of Qujing
Municipality. Inscribed in unsophisticated and bold calligraphy, the
stele has provided precious clues for studying the evolution process of
the Chinese calligraphic art from Li Shu (an ancient style of
calligraphy popular in the Han Dynasty) to Kai Shu (the regular script
or standard script) style. In this regard, Chinese calligraphic masters
praised it as “the First Stele of Chinese Calligraphy”. The stele has
been registered as a key historic relic for nation-level protection.
