The Bridge-Worship Festival is a traditional celebratory event of the Miao people in Taijiang County, southwest China's Guizhou province. The festival falls on the second day of the second lunar month. People build and worship bridges, praying for good weather, a flourishing population and favorable fortune.
Those joining in the festivities dress up in their best clothes. Women and men burn paper money and incense at these bridges and pour rice wine in honor of their ancestors. Afterwards, the lushengs (a Miao music instrument) come out and people dance. A bull-fight might also be arranged to commemorate the occasion.
