Yuanmou Man Relics

Yuanmou Man Relics

Yuanmou Man Relics are unearthed in Shangnabang Village of Yuanmou County, Chuxiong Prefecture. In 1965, two Pithecanthropus (ape man) teeth fossils were discovered here. After identification, they are known as the earliest mankind’s teeth fossils which could date back to 1.7 million years ago. The discoveries of Yuanmou Men have proved that Yunnan Plateau is one of the regions where the mankind practiced activities in early times. The discoveries also further proved that Yuanmou is the cradle of the Oriental humankind.
