The Allying Stele Between Dali And 37 Tribes

The Allying Stele Between Dali And 37 Tribes

The Stele on Alliance between Family Duan of Dali Kingdom and 37 Tribes, unearthed at the former site of Shicheng (Stone Town) in the north of the Qujing County in the 18th of Kangxi Reign of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), is presently preserved in the First Middle School of Qujing Municipality. Inscribed on the stele were the historical records that after King Duan of Dali Kingdom (938-1253) united headmen of 37 tribes, the allied armies conquered the East Yunnan clans, and took oaths for the alliance at Shicheng Town; the King then granted awards to and bestowed official posts upon the headmen. Thanks to its value for studying the history of Dali Kingdom, the stele has been listed as a key historic relic for nation-level protection.
