Qingdao - A City Of Beer

Qingdao - A City Of Beer

The reputation of Qingdao is partly thanks to the Tsingtao beer. Tsingtao is an old spelling of the city on the Shandong Peninsula. It came down as the heritage of German culture that dominated this port city when it was occupied by German

armies about a century ago. The influence of German culture is also seen from a large number of architectures well preserved till today. Most of these buildings are located in the old part of the downtown Qingdao, where a stroll along the streets of ups and downs turns out to be very enjoyable. Every year, the city hosts a large-scale beer festival, a somewhat celebration like the Octoberfest. Restaurants and street-side food stands would put up a wide selection of mouth-watering seafood for people to wash down with Tsingtao beer one keg after another. The beaches in Qingdao draw a huge number of travelers who seek summer resorts. Qingdao is about an hour by air from Shanghai.
