Bodhi Temple
The temple is situated in Mangshi,
capital city of Dehong Prefecture,
West Yunnan. It is said to be first
built in the reign of the Emperor
Kangxi in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911)
by Mangshi Chieftain’s oldest
son who gave up his official career and
became a monk. The temple got
its name because there was a Bodhi tree
(Bo tree) in its front. With
unique designs and exquisite workmanship,
the main hall is characterized
by the fusion of architectural styles of
the Dai, Chinese Han and
Ancient-India, etc.
