Baihanluo Catholic Church

Baihanluo Catholic Church

Situated in Baihanluo Village of Bingzhongluo Township of Gongshan
County, this Catholic church was originally erected by French
missionary Ren Jian’an in 1898, the 24th year of Guangxu Reign
in the late Qing Dynasty.
This church is a wood structure designed in a style of both China
and the West, covering 450 square meters. It is a three-storied
building. The main entrance is an archway; the central room on the
second floor is fitted with arched windows while the third floor
is a belfry. Though many parts of the church were destroyed in
1905 and the 1960s, the wine-brewing skills disseminated by French
missionaries have been preserved and make Baihanluo famed for its
 port wine.
